Making Reservations

Thank you for staying at the House of Light.
The House of Light is an accommodation facility as well as a work of art created by James Turrell.
There are terms of conditions here that other accommodations do not have in order for you to enjoy a long-term experience here in this work of art.
Please be sure to read the terms of conditions, check the boxes below and select your schedule.
* If you do not agree to the terms of conditions, you cannot use or make a reservation at the House of Light. Thank you for your understanding.

To make a reservation, you need to check the consent box at the bottom of the Terms of Conditions.

About Movable Roof

The Outside-in (12-straw-mat room) is an area offering a special experience in this work of art.
We will give you a key to open and close the roof so that you can enjoy the sky changes at sunset and sunrise.
The roof structure is very sensitive to water and cannot be opened in rainy, snowy or stormy weather.
If you forget to close the roof, resulting in damage, the repair costs will be quite high.
You will be asked to sign a pledge to accept the damages on the day you check in.

Our Self-service System

Our staff are not permanently stationed in the building after you check in.
Please serve yourself at meals and prepare and put your bedding away.
You can freely use the items in the building such as tableware.
Be sure to clean them and return to their original locations before leaving the building.

Lodging with Other Families and Small Groups

Since Mr. Turrell would like three families or small groups to interact overnight in this building, we may ask you to stay with other groups when you are applying as a family or small group.
Of course, each family or small group will sleep in their own room, but there are no room keys.
You will share the kitchen, bathroom facilities and the 12-straw-mat room with a roof that opens and closes with each other.
The basic facility fee is divided by the number of families or small groups.

Cancellation

In case of cancellation after your reservation is confirmed, including a reduction in the number of people, a cancellation fee will be charged starting 10 days before the accommodation date.
